Faith in Water grew out of the Alliance of Religions and Conservation (ARC), which was founded in 1995 to help the world's major faiths develop environmental programmes based on their beliefs. Water and cleanliness have spiritual significance in many major faiths.

Working with ARC, WASH in Schools Mapping and UNICEF, we produced the publication Putting Clean Hands Together which looks at how faith and secular groups can work better together for greater community impact.
